I’ll admit it – I’m not Irish… but I love St. Patrick’s Day. Green bagels and beers aside, I love it because it is a fabulous reminder for me to recount all of my lucky charms. And wow, especially with the chaotic state of the world right now, do I ever feel lucky!
I’m lucky because I have a wonderful husband who adores me and one who I adore right back. I’m lucky because I have incredibly supportive friends who believe in even my most imaginative ideas. I’m lucky because I have two super-sweet and generous stepkiddies. I’m lucky because I have a mom and brothers who get me even when I don’t get myself. I’m lucky because I make money doing what I love. I’m lucky because I live near the ocean which always soothes my soul. I’m lucky that I have yummy food to eat, regularly good hair days and good health. I’m lucky that I have enduring strength, resourcefulness and unwavering optimism to carry me through challenges. I’m lucky to be alive!
The one thing I’m not lucky for is my recognition of my good fortune. This isn’t luck – this is a decision – a daily one in fact, to be mindful and appreciative of my golden treasures… the small, the big, the lasting and the fleeting.
Today, stop and think about what’s in your pot of gold. What in your life is valuable? Is it your health? Your family? Your job? What are the things that fill your pot and help to make you a more fulfilled, happier human. If you get stuck, think about all the things in your life,if they went away, how unfortunate you would feel.
Take a moment today to commit to being more appreciative of your good luck every day… and I guarantee you that more good fortune will come your way! Luck begets more luck!
Cheers & green beers!
Live and love largely,
Tristan
TIPS TO INCREASE YOUR LUCK
1. Write down a list of your lucky clovers – the things that you already have in your life that make you feel blessed.
2. Everyday, read your list to become more mindful of the luck that already swirls around you. Toast to your 4-leaf clovers!
3. Share your luck with others. If you are lucky because you are a natural flirt… flirt as much as you can and teach your friends who can’t, how to!
4. Be mindful when new luck, no matter how small, arrives in your life. If you score a great parking space when you really need it, breathe in that good luck – appreciate it!
